Job description

We’re a small office in the South Okanagan (Oliver) looking for an experienced Personal Lines Insurance Broker to join our team. A level 1 that is willing to obtain their level 2 this year… or a current level 2. If you (or someone you know!) is looking for a local, in-office role with no walk-in ICBC, this might be the right fit!

*Please note that ICBC experience is not required as our office does not offer walk-in ICBC service.

Responsibilities

The Insurance Advisor is an integral part of a team and will be the first point of contact for clients.

  • Provide daily support for regular walk in and phone services to clients
  • Quoting new business risks including home, mobile homes, condominiums,, marine, toys, umbrella and travel policies  etc.
  • Preparing client instructions for renewals, endorsements, cancellations, new business, and rewrites
  • Maintain and manage a book of business and strong client relationships through proactive contact via phone and email
  • Develop new business opportunities by securing expiry dates and cross-selling
  • Manage and process renewals on a timely basis and maintain high levels of client retention
  • Support clients in the claims process
  • Previous insurance experience required
  • A natural ability at building authentic client relationships and functioning as part of a team
  • High level of motivation, excellent time management skills, and being versatile
  • Demonstrate the ability to uphold confidentiality and to exercise discretion
  • Strong work ethic while maintaining your ability to have fun on the job
  • Knowledge of an additional language considered an asset

Qualifications

  • Must have your level 1 or 2 General Insurance License in BC
  • Experience working as a Personal Lines insurance agent (2 years)
  • Excellent professional communication and customer service skills
  • Preference given to applicants with underwriter, broker, or other industry experience and/or education (CAIB, CIP, or other relevant designations)

Compensation: $48k-90k depending on license level & experience
