Salary: $95,000 - $105,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience
AMC Insurance Service Ltd. is a growing insurance brokerage operating through multiple companies and branches in British Columbia. We are seeking an experienced, hands-on CPA Accountant to oversee financial operations across the group while staying actively involved in day-to-day accounting and controls.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (Canadian standards) and consolidated reporting, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations
- Oversee insurance premium accounting: receivables, payables, commissions, insurer settlements, direct-bill and agency-bill reconciliations, and ICBC transaction reconciliation
- Manage accounting for multiple corporations, related-party loans, shareholder accounts and acquisition-related transactions
- Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, financing, lender reporting and forecasts
- Reconcile brokerage systems (including Applied Epic) to the general ledger and strengthen internal controls
- Coordinate corporate tax, GST and year-end engagements with external accountants
- Supervise and support the accounting team and provide analysis to ownership
Qualifications
- CPA designation required (or strongly preferred)
- Bachelor degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- 7-10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
- Experience with multiple entities or branches and consolidated reporting
- Advanced Excel and accounting software skills
Strong assets
- Applied Epic (or another brokerage management system) experience
- Previous experience in an insurance brokerage, agency or similar financial services business
