CLAIMS ADVISOR

Acera Insurance is looking for an empathetic customer focused individual to join our claims department. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the best experience for our clients who have suffered a loss.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Taking new claims, reporting them to Insurer’s and monitoring their progress
  • Act as a claim’s advocate for Acera’s clients
  • Act as a claims examiner for Lloyds of London contracts
  • Entering claims payment information into monthly spreadsheets (bordereaux’s)
  • Ordering and dispensing claims cheques to vendors
  • Entering claims data into our Broker Management System
  • Review and report on claims data
  • Have ongoing communication between the client, the Director, Third Party Administration & Claims and the Insurers
  • Interpret and advise on policy coverage and wordings
  • Foster strong relationships with insurance companies, independent adjusters, legal counsel, and restoration companies
  • Perform after-loss underwriting of files by identifying underwriting issues and reporting them to the team members
  • Act as an organization-wide claims subject matter expert
  • Attend mediation and small claims court when necessary

LOCATIONS AND STATUS:

  • Victoria, BC
  • Full-time, permanent (35hr/week)
  • Salary Range: $65K - $75K

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Holds a Level 2 general insurance license
  • CIP Designation or working towards completion
  • Minimum 1 years in claims related field experience considered an asset
  • Legal or Underwriting background considered an asset
